  You might get a quick answer, but probably your best bet
is simply to try compiling:
<http://probability.ca/cran/src/base/R-2/R-2.10.1.tar.gz>.  A brief look
at the
"configure" script within 
that tarball does find some HPUX- and AIX-specific tests, so it's
plausible that it would work, but you can probably answer best for
yourself.

  It will depend in part on your OS (32- vs 64-bit) and your toolchain
(which compilers etc.).  You are almost certain to have to build it
yourself rather than downloading binaries.
