R help - Feb 2011 - foreach with registerDoMC on R 2.12.0 OSX 10.6 --- errors and warnings

some hints for the search engines.

I just did
   install.packages("foreach")
   install.packages("doMC")
   library(doMC)
   registerDoMC()
   library(foreach)
> foreach(i = 1:3) %dopar% sqrt(i)

The first element is obviously wrong, and the warning messages are scary.

Restarting R eliminated all the problems.  This seems to be something
odd about the install and load process.

Are you using doMC within the Mac GUI or from the Terminal? The doMC
package doesn't work within the GUI, you need to run R directly from
the command line.
