R help - Mar 2010 - How to match two matrices with different dates

Dear R users,

I am experiencing a problem, I am trying to merge two matrices composed like
this:

Matrix1 :

Col1 datetime  // Col2 Data1

Matrix2:

Col1 datetime // Col2 Data2

The datetime are matching most of the time, but on both matrices, there are
some values missing, and this generates a gap, so the two matrices don't
match.
Do you know which function I could use/create in order to make one matrix
out of this, like:

Matrix:

Col1 = datetime // Col2 = Data1 // Col3 = Data2

Try 'merge' and the post processing of the data, but with no data, no
idea
of what that might entail.
