Our biostatistics summer interns work for 10-12 weeks under the supervision of experienced biostatisticians on theoretical or applied problems with direct relevance to on-going clinical or non-clinical drug-development research in the areas of oncology, immunology, ophthalmology, and pulmonology. The specific topics range from problems in genomics and, more generally, translational research to late stage clinical trials. At the end of his/her internship, each student gives a department-wide presentation on their research topic. It is not uncommon for an intern to summarize their work in a peer-reviewed publication.
