R help - Jan 2008 - How to upgrade R

Hello List,
     I do have R version 2.3 installed in my SUSE linux environment and I am
trying to upgrade it to 2.6. Can any body tell me how to upgrade R 2.3 to R
2.6. I tried to uninstall R from the installed directory using the
make uninstall prefix=/usr/lib/R
command, but got the following error
make: *** No rule to make target `uninstall'.  Stop.
Any kind of help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Please, tell us how did you install R 2.3. By rpm?
