R help - Dec 2006 - Font size x-axis in plotMeans not affected by cex...

Hello,

I am trying to increase the font size of the axis annotation  in a plot
generated using plotmeans (gplots). By using cex and cex.axis, I am able to
increase the size of the numbers in the y-axis but the letters in the x-axis
remain unchanged.  Do you know how I can increase the font size in the
x-axis?

This is what I am doing:

plotmeans(L.1 ~ letters, data = wtl, ylim = c(0,100), n.label = FALSE,
barcol = "brown", col = "brown", ylab = "", xlab=
"", barwidth = 2,  cex 2, cex.axis = 1.5, pch =8)
