June 6-7, 2006, Utrecht University, The Netherlands: Course on Generalized Additive Models for Location, Scale and Shape (GAMLSS) using R given by the authors, R. A. Rigby en D. M. Stasinopoulos of the recently published read paper in Applied Statistics (2005, 54, Part 3, 1-38). GAMLSS extends the Generalized Linear Model and the Generalized Additive Model to highly skew and kurtotic discrete and continuous distributions. The most important application is its use by the World Health Organization to construct the worldwide standard growth curves. The course offers a theoretical overview and practical sessions to familiarize users with GAMLSS in R. See: www.fss.uu.nl/mt/gamlss and www.londonmet.ac.uk/gamlss Thanks Mikis Stasinopoulos
