Dear R-list, Realising the importance of updating the R base, I tried to compile the source file of R2.2.1 in my machine, but failed. According to "R for Mac OS X FAQ", i've got the basic dependencies which are gcc 3.3 and g77 3.4. ./configure is fine Here are the errors I got from make: >make ... gcc -I../../src/extra/zlib -I../../src/extra/bzip2 -I../../src/extra/pcre -no-cpp-precomp -I. -I../../src/include -I../../src/include -I/sw/include -I/usr/local/include -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -g -O2 -c Rmain.c -o Rmain.o gcc -mdynamic-no-pic -L/sw/lib -L/usr/local/lib -o R.bin Rmain.o -L../../lib -lR ld: warning multiple definitions of symbol _signgam ../../lib/libR.dylib(lgamma.lo) definition of _signgam /usr/lib/libSystem.dylib(gamma9.o) definition of _signgam ld: /usr/lib/gcc/darwin/3.3/libgcc.a(_fixunsdfdi.o) illegal reference to symbol: ___floatdidf defined in indirectly referenced dynamic library /usr/local/lib/libgcc_s.1.0.dylib make[3]: *** [R.bin] Error 1 make[2]: *** [R] Error 2 make[1]: *** [R] Error 1 make: *** [R] Error 1 So... is it something wrong with my gcc? I also have older version of R installed in my machine. R1.8 and R2.0. And I have linked executive files called R and R2.0 in /usr/local/bin/ and linked R and R2.0 directories each containing "library" directory in /usr/local/lib Hope they are not affecting the installation of R2.2.1. Any suggestion would help. Thanks a lot. ___________________________________________________ Zhesi He S-Block Biology, YCCSA, University of York York YO10 5YW, U.K. Phone: +44-(0)1904-328554 Email: zh107@york.ac.uk ___________________________________________________ [[alternative text/enriched version deleted]]
