R help - Oct 2005 - finding roots of a polynomial

Dear listers,
I am trying to find the root of a polynomial of the form,
       a+bx+cx^2+dx^3+ex^5+...=0
where a,b,c,d,e are known.
I have looked at "quadprog" without any success.

?polyroot, and watch that x^4 appears to be missing.
