R help - Sep 2005 - using system()

Using system() is theer a way to make the R interpreter not wait for
the command to finish?

Coincidentially I recently posted on r-devel a note pointing out that
system is not the same on all operating systems.

In particular, wait= is available on Windows but not on UNIX.
On UNIX you could & in the usual way.
