Hi! I have R 1.9.1, Mac OS X 10.3.5, GNU Emacs 21.2.1 and ESS 5.2.3. I installed today the ESS by not changing ess-site.el, but creating .emacs in $home with the single line: $ cat ~/.emacs (load "/usr/local/lib/ess-5.2.3/lisp/ess-site") If I start now emacs and then R (with M-x R) then I get: > options(STERM='iESS', editor='emacsclient') but using fix() oder edit() doesn't work: > fix(pc) emacsclient: can't find socket; have you started the server? Error in edit(name, file, editor) : problem with running editor emacsclient Maybe I forgot to do some simple steps?? Hope anybody could help me Meinhard
PLEASE send ESS/R related problems to the ESS list. We just recently answered that one over there. Read the manuals and HELP pages in the doc directory, you aren't using it right. You want to C-c C-d. Maybe C -c C- d (C= CTRL!) combination is helpful to try! Maybe this works also under MAC OSX regards Thomas
