R help - Aug 2004 - save() & load()

Is there a way to list the contents of a "save" file,
i.e. the variable names, without load'ing from it first?

I believe not.  But that's not too bad:
> x <- system.file(package="MASS", "data",
"hills.rda")
> print(load(x , new.env()))
[1] "hills"
