The command language used by R is very similar to that used by S-PLUS, and this course also acts as an introduction to the command language used by this package. R can carry out standard statistical analyses, and also has powerful facilities for users to create their own commands for non-standard analyses or for new statistical methods. Users of R frequently publish the code for their commands on the internet for others to use.
