Hello, I have a data frame of the form (only the first two columns here) Age weight 28 950 29 1108 30 885 31 1110 ..... Only 15 rows in total. Weight is the mean weight at birth. I used Tukey's running median smoother, 'smooth' in the eda package, to smooth the data -- there are very few observation at young ages. Two questions. 1. Is there another (better?) function to smooth such data? Am I safe using 'smooth'? 2. How best to extrapolate these data -- to additional 5 data points? In a previous email, Doug Bates suggested using interSpline but this seems to require a predictor. Am I wrong?
