Hi, I am using the PAM and CLARA packages in R and have found that the resulting clusters do not vary between runs. As I understand, these algorithms should both have random starting points and, therefore, their solutions should vary from run to run (unless the clustering is trivial). This is the case with K-means on the dataset that I am using. Could anyone explain why this might be occurring. Thanks, Allan. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr Allan Tucker Research Fellow Department of Information Systems and Computing Brunel University Uxbridge Middlesex, UB8 3PH, United Kingdom -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~hornik/R/R-FAQ.html Send "info", "help", or "[un]subscribe" (in the "body", not the subject !)
