Yes, it is possible, but it needs to be compiled against a particular
version of MySQL, so it is essential that you compile it yourself.
Beware: it is not easy due to mistakes in the MySQL declarations, amongst
other things. I struggled for days with this.
It is much easier to use RODBC to talk to a MySQL database (on Windows).
