R help - May 2002 - Intended change from version$os=='Win32' to 'mingw32' ?

Is it intended that version$os no longer is 'Win32' for the
Windows-Compile?
What is the approbriate way to check for Windows?

Yes.  It's a consequence of using autoconf 2.5x to generate config.h.
In the wider open source world the OS is mingw32, not Windows (and it
matters as there are other Windows-hosted subsystems, notably Cygwin, and
other OSes that mingw32 can use, e.g. ReactOS).

Use .Platform$OS.type, which is intended to check for broad classes of
OSes.
