I also downloaded the rgl package (after reading recent Uwe Ligges' post)
and installed in on my Win2k Pro sp2 machine. It seems to work with no
problems. I ran most of the examples, including the hist3d one, and all of
them worked fine.
A couple of thoughts. I have administrative priviliges on my machine.
Could this possible make a difference. The rgl library uses OpenGL. Is it
a standard install on all Win2k systems?

I don't have access to Win2K to test on, but I don't see that error on
Win95, Win98, or NT4. So it could be a Win2K incompatibility, or it
could be a problem with your installation.
The current version (from "library(help=rgl)") is 0.5.6. (The
Help|About window incorrectly reports itself as 0.5.5).
Can you get any functions at all to work, i.e. is this just a problem
with hist3d?

The problem is found! It was a problem with the OpenGL configuration. I open the driver OpenGL configuration window and I uncheck the perfomance and quality options. It seams that some options are incompatible with the Rage 128 card driver. But right now I am running all the examples with out any problem!!! Any way.... Thank you very much for your help!!! Sometimes it helps to go to their web site and download a new driver; sometimes that just makes things worse.
