I have a feeling that this is a simple one, but I cannot figure it out. I want to change the default plotting character for all my plots to pch=20 (small filled circle). I thought that putting par("pch"=20) in my Rprofile would do it, but it only seems to work for a single invocation of a graphical device, that is if I start a second device (windows() in my case) the plotting symbol reverts to 1 (large hollow circles). The only thing that works for me is redefinition of plot.default and points.default functions. I just typed, say, plot.default in an R console, copied the definition and pasted it into Rprofile and changed the pch=par ("pch") to pch=20. However, redefining basic functions seems rather kludgy to me. Is there a simpler and batter way?
