I'm running Windows NT4. Rcmd does not seen to read the command line. Rterm and other things work well. For example "Rcmd check --help" fails with the command interpreter trying to find a program or file called "check." What path settings do you have? Go to "Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System" and select the "Advanced" tab (This is on Windows 2000; it might be somewhere else on NT 4.0 -- my memory of NT 4.0 is a little dim after a year with Win2K :-) Then select "Environment Variables". There are two, one for "All Users" and one for whatever user you happen to be logged on as when you do this. If you're a stand-alone user on a workstation, you'll probably want to do it for "All Users", but if you're a user on a networked workstation, you might need to get someone with Administrator privileges to do this for you. In any case, the variable you want to change is "path". Select "path" and hit the "Edit" button. You will need to add whatever folder "check" resides in to that path variable. Go to the end of the string and add a *semi-colon* followed by the folder where "check" resides. Then hit the "OK" button, which will save the new "path". Then hit "OK" to close out the next window you get. You will get one more window; hit "OK" again. If you're doing the "Rcmd" in a Command Prompt window, you will need to close that window and open a new one to get the new definition of the environment variable. As a check, type "set | more" in the Command Prompt window. You will see the current definition of the "path" variable along with all other variables that are defined. -- Ed Borasky http://www.aracnet.com/~znmeb mailto:znmeb at aracnet.com Q: What phrase will you never hear Candice Bergen use? I think not only it's incisive, it's offensive and yes I take it personally as a Windows user and yes it's not the first time I see this coming from you. But I don't want to start anything here, instead I would like to see the end of it. I think we and all other members of the list should avoid making comments and state opinion about the world we live in and make our best effort to honestly help each other. The rest we don't need.
