If you must force anything, force survival4, but note that everything in the contrib section is almost a year old. If you have a functional build environment and a net connection, I'd recommend simply saying (as root, or at least with install permissions) install.packages(c("survival5","rpart"), lib=.lib.loc) # yes, 5 (..which is likely the reason that the contrib has not been updated, BTW.) -- O__ ---- Peter Dalgaard Blegdamsvej 3 c/ /'_ --- Dept. of Biostatistics 2200 Cph. [R] .rpm (splines, ctest) install problem - LinuxPPC
On a PMac 7200 (running LinuxPPC 3Q 99), trying to install "R-ctest-0.9.R16-1.ppc.rpm" and "R-splines-2.0.R3-3.ppc.rpm" rpms currently in the linuxppc binary download directory results in error messages saying that files in these rpms conflict with files from R-base 1.01-1. Of course, "R-rpart" and "R-survival4" then also can't be installed because the above aren't installed. Should I force install "R-ctest" and "R-splines"? I'm afraid to break something in the base install without knowing it. Haven't found anything in the help archives about this one.
