workshop on the analysis of neural data
to be held this summer at woods hole, MA. The workshop has been
extremely productive in the past years and we
anticipate another good working group this year. This workshop is
applicable for any working in time series analysis whether
it involves point processes or sampled continuous time processes. (Both
will be discussed extensively) I am including the
poster for this year's workshop below. I would appreciate it

Analysis of Neural Data
Modern methods and open issues in the analysis and
interpretation of multivariate time series and imaging data in the
neurosciences

A working group of scientists committed to quantitative
approaches to problems in neuroscience will focus their
efforts on experimental and theoretical issues related to
the analysis of single and multichannel data sets.
The work group is motivated by issues in two complimentary areas
that are critical to an understanding of brain function. The first
involves advanced signal processing methods, particularly those
appropriate for emerging multisite recording and noninvasive
imaging techniques. The second involves the development of a
calculus to study the dynamical behavior of nervous systems and
the computations they perform.
A distinguishing feature of the work group is a close collaboration
between experimentalists and theorists with regard to the analysis
of data and the planning of experiments. The work group will have
a limited number of research lectures, supplemented by tutorials on
relevant computational,
experimental, and mathematical techniques.
The topics covered in the workgroup will maintain continuity with past
years and will include
the analysis of point process data (spike trains) as well as continuous
processes (LFP, imaging data), and
miscellaneous topics such as spike waveform classification. We will have
two one-day workshops in addition to the
scheduled activities:

Participants: About twenty five participants, both experimentalists and
theorists.
Experimentalists are encouraged to bring data records to the work group;
appropriate computational facilities will be
provided. The work group will further take advantage of interested
investigators and course faculty concurrently
present at the MBL.
We encourage graduate students and postdoctoral fellows as well as
senior researchers to apply.
PARTICIPANT FEE: $300
Accepted participants will be provided with shared dormitory
accomodations at MBL and board.
