As a release manager asked us to do that, we should remove the kernel patch from the packaging... As I said I'm not completely against removing it, if we distribute it on our website and point people to it in some documentation! The internet is just there, so what would the matter be? If nobody is against this course of action I'm going to move the patch outside of the debian directory, remove the linux-patch-xen, publish it on alioth (assuming I have sufficient privileges to do so... otherwise ask Jeremy to do it or to give us sufficient privileges) and update the relevant documentation. On the other hand if someone is opposed to this course of action we can postpone/avoid it if you can convince the RM team... I think it's unwise to go ahead against their opinion and without convincing them, if we want to be good citizens, have a possibility to ship xen before etch+230, maybe need any hint or other eases with freezes and so on at any point, etc!) As usual... ideas? suggestions? thoughts? rants? Guido

This sounds fine with me from what I've read on the thread over on -devel as well as here. If you have any problems with access to alioth to release the file let me know and I'll look into it. [apologies for missing References header; I only have the web archive to use for posts this old]> If nobody is against this course of action I'm going to move the > patch outside of the debian directory, remove the linux-patch-xen, > publish it on alioth (assuming I have sufficient privileges to do > so... otherwise ask Jeremy to do it or to give us sufficient > privileges) and update the relevant documentation. As for r89 I can't see this change having being made completely (trunk/patches/linux-2.6.12-xen.patch is there, moved outside the package, but I can't see any references to an alioth URL but it does seem to have been agreed on. What action needs to be taken on this? BTW, I'm very happy to contribute to sort this sort of thing out myself. I'm not a registered DD, but I'm going through the NM procedure at the moment: https://nm.debian.org/nmstatus.php?email=dom%40earth.li and I have various sponsored packages: http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=dom%40earth.li My alioth username is dom-guest.
