[dtrace-discuss] [Trivia question] What engine is it on DTrace T-shirt ?
Hi, This is not a DTrace technical question (so, please don''t flame me for it) :) This is regarding the DTrace (un)conference TShirt. I am curious to know what engine is it. Could not figure it out. Do you have a picture? The only picture I''ve seen is a ridiculously small picture of a banner for the conference with then engine. The oil pan looks like what was on my dad''s Olds Cutlass RS (8 quart!). but that''s about all I can see. Looks like an american v8 from a rear wheel drive application. -----Original Message----- From: dtrace-discuss-bounces at opensolaris.org on behalf of Sanjeev Bagewadi Sent: Tue 6/10/2008 7:55 AM To: dtrace-discuss at opensolaris.org Subject: [dtrace-discuss] [Trivia question] What engine is it on DTraceT-shirt ? It is a chevy engine you can tell by the shape of the exhaust manifolds. very hard to get the spark plugs out. Also the front strait up distributor is small block chevy. The picture I have is blurred. Can''t tell much of anything else -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

From this, hard to see, picture: http://blogs.sun.com/ahl/entry/dtrace_conf_post_post_mortem it looks like a Ford Windsor to me. reasons: 1) dist in the front 2) water neck mounted to the front of the intake 3) water pump looks like a Ford unit 4) starter on the right side 5) dip stick in the front better picture anyone?> > The picture I have is blurred. Now, for some "Where''s Waldo?"-esque fun, can you find where Todd Patrick (the artist, cc:''d) hid "Sun" in there? ;) - Bryan -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bryan Cantrill, Sun Microsystems Fishworks. http://blogs.sun.com/bmc

Mike Kuhnkey skrev:> Maybe a Cleveland....? >Nope, positively not a Cleveland. I have one in my Pantera, and I know what to look for :-) 1) The Cleveland has a "dry" intake. The water neck attaches to the block just in front of the intake. 2) The valve covers are different and with a different number of bolts 3) The Cleveland has the timing chain chamber cast in the block, while the Windsors have it separate 4) The valley pan rail gaskets are symmetrical on a Cleveland 5) The oil pan has a hump for the oil pump on a Cleveland It can not be a 302 Boss either, as even though it has a Windsor block, it has the Cleveland heads so item 2 above eliminates that possibility.> > -- > This message posted from opensolaris.org > _______________________________________________ > dtrace-discuss mailing list > dtrace-discuss at opensolaris.org >
