dovecot - Mar 2007 - Auth mechanism variable expansion?

Hi all,

Timo wrote in a message to the list in February that "%m variable 
expands to the auth mechanism name.".  Indeed, the Wiki
"Variables" page
states that this is the case.  However if I use %m in my SQL password 
query it does not get expanded.  I'm using rc 25.  What am I doing wrong?

If you look more closely, it's listed under "For
login_log_format_elements setting there are also these variables:"

I didn't think anyone would care about having it in dovecot-auth.. Hmm.
Oh well, it was so easy to add that I went and put it into v1.0 branch:
