This totally sucks. It will help you to avoid future unpleasant surprises if you take the time to read up on the Hierarchical File System (HFS) and its relation the Filesystem Hierarchy Standard (FHS). The directories /run and /var/run, which should be the same place on properly configured systems, are solely to be used for run-time data ONLY. The phrase run-time implies ephemeral data that is not preserved between restarts of the service much less reboots. -- *** e-Mail is NOT a SECURE channel *** Do NOT transmit sensitive data via e-Mail Do NOT open attachments nor follow links sent by e-Mail James B.
