Serious, inacceptable artefacts with Ogg Vorbis
...seeing that many people couldn't even pick out the uncompressed wav.) So what made me rank it that bad? I noticed strange artefacts in the entire Ogg Vorbis encoded sample already when I got through the list the first time. But when I listened to it with headphones the artefacts got really *inacceptable*. I don't know how to describe them, maybe echoing or bubbling. They made me rank MP3 and Real even better than Ogg Vorbis although they had cut away all the high frequencies! Still surprised (and disappointed) by Ogg Vorbis' bad quality I compared the actual 1.0 with an old RC2....

how to prevent files and directories from being deleted?
...Lighttpd has the same problem. This breaks services and makes servers non-restartable by anyone else but the administrator who needs to re-create the needed files and directories every time and has to figure out what selinux labels they need. This causes unnecessary downtimes. This is entirely inacceptable. This totally sucks. -- "Didn't work" is an error.

problem with pam_converse with openssh protocol version 1
...is allowed in - PAM_CONV_ERR is returned and conversation took no place at all. v2: # ssh -2 machine Password: Enter PIN: (...) Everything works like it should. I suspect that I will receive very simple answer - "use v2 only". It is the simplest and the most secure and effective, but inacceptable. Some of machines (Cray SV1 for example) have v1 only implemented. Besides hundreds of users connect to my site every day - try to persuade all of them to use v2 only. So one more time: 1) if ChallengeResponseAuthentication is set to yes, pam conversation works right with v2, but v1 retur...

how to get perfect fit of lm if response is constant
...Consider the response-variable of data.frame df is constant, so analytically perfect fit of a linear model is expected. Fitting a regression line using lm result in residuals, slope and std.errors not exactly zero, which is acceptable in some way, but errorneous. But if you use summary.lm it shows inacceptable error propagation in the calculation of the t value and the corresponding p-value for the slope, as well R-Square – just consider the adj R-Square of 0.6788! This result is independent of which mode used for the input vectors. Is there any way to get the perfect fitted regression curve using lm...

image() generates many border lines in pdf, not on screen (quartz) - R 2.9.1 GUI 1.28 Tiger build 32-bit (5444) - OS X 10.5.8
...ed high resolution variants for final publication I need to know whether it is possible to force image() to give up drawing these borders (I tried already several low level par parameters, all to no avail). On screen everything looks perfect, pdf, clipboard, quartz.save, save all look bad up to inacceptibly bad, especially pdf and any printing! Reading all what I could find on this topic, I fear there might even a bug be present in R (R 2.9.1 GUI 1.28 Tiger build 32-bit (5444)). Can anyone offer some insight or even help? Thanks. @Christian Buchner: speex acm & netmeeting
...ncorrecxt parameters or > is this a problem of the acm codec? I can't tell why. Try to register mode 8kHz Mono mode Q3 or Q4 for Netmeeting. Only these modes pack exactly 1 speex frame into one data packet. That ensures lowest latency. Q0-Q2 in contrast pack 8 frames into a packet which is inacceptable for realtime conversation. Q5 and upwards use 2 frames. All this is defined in codec.c in the QualityInfo[] table. The columns given below are - Bits per Speex frame - framesize (160 samples in NB mode) - Speex Frames per Packet (see Wave nBlockAlign) - effective bitrate in kbit/s here's...

Did I possibly register the codec wiht incorrecxt parameters or is this a problem of the acm codec? bye, D A --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from
