I have an older Smart APC UPS. Replaced the batteries twice. It might be time to upgrade. This has been broken for a while but batteries are cheaper than replacing the whole unit.

I prefer my UPS's to have ethernet based power management -- john r pierce, recycling bits in santa cruz

Not looking for run time, but a safe shutdown. It may be worth upgrading. Checked Newegg the other day and they have come down in price big time. About time for another battery change anyway.
