I am now in the prediciment of getting as far as downloading the rpms from
the installation website( a local repository I created on same switch). The
installation progresses through downloading the various image / xml files
etc from the server , formats and partitions the harddrive accordingly. But
when it gets to downloading and installing the rpms it throws a wobbler.
As per my post on forums a few hours ago

Ok, I sort of guessed that after checking out the parameters. Now I'm one
step on from that. I have set up Xserver on my win box and have pointed the
installer to it and it gets as far as starting to copy the rpms down to the
target machine. IE it can see and download images/stage2.img etc but it
balks at the first rpm, which happens to be system-config-services... saying
it ".. missing or corrupt file, or corrupt media.."
The <alt>F3 debug output simply states that it fails to get
http://<IP>/./Centos/system-config-services.. trying 1-10 then fails.
The only thing I can think of is the permissions on the NTFS file system but
if it can see the images folder contents etc how come not the CentOS
subfolder.
Could it be that the centos installer is looking for a folder which is case
sensitive whereas NTFS isn't!?

Now I have subsequently tried using a ks file and a basic core install and
it performs as expected until it too gets grumpy at the same stage of the
installation. I can however wget the files on the target machine from the
repository using the shell provided when I <alt>F2. The Xserver httpd log
files show 200 codes for the rpm downloads. Would it be possible that I have
a corrupted net-install cd. I have verified that the CD and the repository
are both i386/5.1
I am at a loss to explain this.
Can anyone else!?
TIA
Ronan
