IPSec
Hi All,
I need to configure a VPN between a FreeBSD-4.8 box and
a Linux (FreeS/WAN) box.
In the Linux side, the network administrator installed FreeS/WAN
with RSA authentication without IKE support.
Does anybody knows if is possible to make my FreeBSD box
connect a VPN with the Linux box?
If so, could point me to a documentation about how to install
IPSec with RSA authentication and how to make

Keep sourcing when there is an error
Hello,
I want to know if there is any way to avoid source() stopping when there
is an error.
Here is the content of my Main.R script:
source("~/R/source/Constructor1.R") # Object1 should be constructed
ifelse(exists("Object1"), # It's an S4 object
print("Object1 exists"), # I can't avoid using 'validity'

Winbind on HPUX 11, some small progress
Hi All,
Well, i've managed to enable some debugging in syslog, I had to put in
/etc/syslog.conf
;*.debug
on the syslog line.
So at least I have an error which is being returned into syslog from
winbind.
This is what I get from winbind

TDM400 in aging Dell Optiplex
I've got an old Dell Optiplex (Pentium-II, 1998 Vintage) which is
successfully running an X100P card. I'm hoping to upgrade to a TDM400.
Has anybody tried running these cards in old Optiplex machines? I'm not
particularly worried about horsepower - more about the motherboard having
a PCI bus that's able to power up the card...

FTP
Hello,
I usualy permit TCP traffic on ports from 1025 to 65535 of the servers
that I need to permit FTP access.
Is there a more secure way to permit FTP access instead of to
permit such ports?
I have a FreeBSD gateway/router on a building with these ports
open and I?m having some problems with users using softwares
like Kasaa and eMule.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank?s

CAC AB1 and Asterisk
Hi all,
Don't know if anyone can help me. We just set up a CAC Access
Bank 1
with Asterisk. Everything works great except, when we ring a Zap
interface, the analog phone does not actually ring. The light blinks,
and if you answer it you are connected to the person, but the actual
phone does not ring.
Using the "Test" option for the channel does make the phone

Upgrading subversion
Hello,
I?d like to install subversion system in our server (CentOS-4.4)
up2date has the subversion-1.1.4-2, but subversion is already
on verson 1.4.2
Perhaps I loose good features if I install subversion-1.1.x, but I
prefer to use the version delivered by up2date, of course.
1) What do you suggest?
If I try to install subversion-1.4.2 from source it asks for apr and
apr-util version 0.9.7 or

On the other hand these requests come back from time to time on the
mailing list and it is still used in many attics of various projects as
a de-facto internal representation to interface with other tools for

GSM modems
Hi all,
I am interested in interfacing a GSM modem to *. I've seen a few
comments about doing this, but I'm not clear whether people have
actually made it work. I've used GSM modems for various data jobs,
mostly high volume SMS (no, not nasty marketing stuff - high volume
solicited SMS :-) ) . These only have analogue ports for voice. Does
anyone know of units with digital voice

The usual advice I provide people is "see what Clang does with an

Call Transfer drop.
Hi all,
When I transfer a caller to another internal extension that is either
off the hook or in use, it immediately drops the caller. Is there a way
that I can put something in maybe my extensions.conf to transfer that
caller back to the original extension if the called one is busy? I'm
trying to stay away from supervised transfers, but if that is the only
way, I guess that's what

Cygwin: Back up open files?
I have VSS snapshots created in a batch file nightly and then Rsync the
contents to a remote server.
The trick is to mount the VSS snapshot on and empty folder or drive
letter. I use a drive letter as mounting on an empty folder means that
the folder will be empty if the snapshot has failed (this causes the
--delete switch to empty the remote copy).
I'm struggling with Exchange 2003 syncs

backing up a database by locking while backup program runs
Hi.
I want to back up a Xapian database. If I copy the database directory
and its contents using (for instance) rsync, and I know that throughout
the duration of the rsync process another process has had the database
open for writing, but has not actually made any modifications, can I
be sure that, on completion of the rsync process, I have a copy of the
database which is consistent and fully
