I am in need of the udunits and udunits-devel packages. I know I remember seeing the udunits package on the CD's but don't recall seeing the udunits-devel. Looking at the rpm-pbone.net, I only found versions avilable for FC. Would it break a bunch of stuff to install both packages on a 4.1-i386 system ? Also looked via yum, at Dag's repository, and mirrors, but nothing shows up for it. I'm still new enough to CentOS to not know where and what I can install from other versions without breaking things... Sam -- Snowman

You can get the packages in question from http://centos.karan.org/ compiled for CentOS-4. specifically from here: http://centos.karan.org/el4/extras/stable/i386/RPMS/repodata/repoview/U.group.html --- Johnny Hughes -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I also found a version for RHES4 and I've already installed it. Is there a problem using RH rpms as well? -- Snowman
sorry for the newb questions, but I'm new to linux administration, and even newer to centOS. I do have some experience with Gentoo Linux. How can I get a list of packages that are installed in my system? Is there an equivalent of merge -uDvt world? (This updates the installed packages with latest releases) Is there an equivalent of portage in centOS? (The portage site lists all available packages for Gentoo by 'category'). Thanks for the help.
