OpenOffice 2.0 rpms
Was just wondering if anyone knows of any third-party RPMs for
Open Office 2.0 for CentOS 4? Haven't come up with anything via yum
or rpm.pbone.net yet, and would prefer not to go the openoffice.org
binary installer route if possible.
Cheers,
Gavin

GIMP 2.4 on CentOS 5?
...some time. There are quite some functions in 2.4
that I'd like to use. As far as I understand, building GIMP 2.4 would
involve some changes to [base] packages, like upgrading GTK.
Anyone built GIMP 2.4 successfully without wrecking the system? I guess
I'd take an SRPM from FC8 from rpm.pbone.net, and then start from here.
Only I prefer to ask first.
Cheers from the cloudy South of France,

packaging: src.rpm not a rpm
Hi all,
I have installed the recommended installs from here:
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/RebuildSRPM
I want to build a "ipfm" RPM on a CentOS 6.2, for legacy purpose.
I cant immediately get rid of that piece of software, but we're on the
move...
So:
$ wget
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/3/srodzaj/2/search/ipfm-0.11.5-alt1.src.rpm
$ rpm -i --nomd5 ipfm-0.11.5-alt1.src.rpm
error: ipfm-0.11.5-alt1.src.rpm: not an rpm package
(or package manifest):
I probably missed something or am using some very outdated ressources:
would some help me?

centos rpm package description list?
Dear All
Is there any reference link that lists the centos rpm packages by
their description? As I know, we have reference sites like
rpm.pbone.net and dag.wieers.com etc that we can search for an rpm
package by its name. But what we have if we want to find a rpm package
by its description rather than its name? Say we want to find how many
solutions do we have for Image processing or Speech processing on
centos, so if we know the solution...

Packages
I am in need of the udunits and udunits-devel packages. I know I
remember seeing the udunits package on the CD's but don't recall seeing
the udunits-devel. Looking at the rpm-pbone.net, I only found versions
avilable for FC. Would it break a bunch of stuff to install both
packages on a 4.1-i386 system ? Also looked via yum, at Dag's
repository, and mirrors, but nothing shows up for it. I'm still new
enough to CentOS to not know where and what I can install from...

CentOS for non-tech user
...been used to Mozilla for both mail and browsing, so
equivalents there are not a problem. She needs grip and lame, for her mp3s -
again no problem. In fact the only problem I can see is that gwenview doesn't
appear to have the kipi-plugins. I can see libkipi listed, but no plugins,
and a pbone search didn't find it for me. Perhaps it's available from a repo
that I don't have? This is the tool of choice for me, for photo-printing.
I think I've covered the areas that she's interested in. Can anyone point out
any other things I should consider?

Backuppc-updates on CentOS
...talled from the c5-testing repo.
root at mach012 ~/ [0]# rpm -qa backuppc
backuppc-3.1.0-1.el5.centos
root at mach012 ~/ [0]#
Seeing how there's been some updates to BackupPC in the near past, I thought
I'd run a yum update to get the updated package. That didn't work. So I
searched pbone.net for a BackupPC package on CentOS5 but didn't find any.
Doing the same search for RHEL5 gave me two packages (one for i386 and one for
x86_64); v3.1.0-5.
Looking more closely I saw that the RHEL5-packages were from epel, a repo one
maybe shouldn't choose as a primary repo for ones C...

portsentry and proftpd RPMs available
Just dropping a note, I've built CentOS4 friendly RPMs (as well as RHEL4
and FC4) of two of my favourite tools, PortSentry and ProFTPd:
ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/ftp.falsehope.net/home/tengel/portsentry/CentOS4/
ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/ftp.falsehope.net/home/tengel/proftpd/CentOS4/
PortSentry is built using the last known (RedHat 9 based) SPEC/patches
from FreshRPMS, updated to apply with the latest known version 1.2. I
have noticed no prob...
