AW: [Centos] 3Ware 9xxx 9500S-4LP SATA Raid with CentOS3.3?

AW: AW: [Centos] 3Ware 9xxx 9500S-4LP SATA Raid with CentOS3.3?
Hi Scott. Can you tell me where i can find the script? Becuase in my file is no script to compile. Or do you mean that? http://www.3ware.com/KB/article.aspx?id=12690 But the question is work that with centos? What driver i must create SMP or not and what is the difference>To build UP module, type: >make -f Makefile.rh >The file created is 3w-9xxx.o>To build SMP module, type: >make smp -f Makefile.rh >The file created is 3w-9xxx.smpAnd what i must put in to initial the ramdisk on CentOS. Redhat from the site above /sbin/mkinitrd -v -f /boot/init-2.4.21-4.EL.img init-2.4.21-4.EL Cent OS ??? /sbin/mkinitrd -v -f /boot/2.4.21-27.0.2.ELsmp vmlinuz-2.4.21-27.0.2.Elsmp My kernelversion is root at server8 [/boot]# uname -r 2.4.21-27.0.2.ELsmp And on this site http://www.3ware.com/KB/article.aspx?id=12706 stay that the drivers will not work with centos. But i don?t understand WHY. Redhat and Centos has the same architecture or not? Maybe anyone can told me what i must do now :) I am very confused. Thanks for help Sven

<br><font size=2><tt>>Can you tell me where i can find the script?</tt></font> <br> <br><font size=2><tt>I did it about 6 months ago, but I cant find the perl script on their site anymore. However, if you download the driver source for 2.4 kernels there are makefiles in there.</tt></font> <br> <br><font size=2><tt>>Or do you mean that?<br>>http://www.3ware.com/KB/article.aspx?id=12690<br></tt></font> <br><font size=2><tt>That should work, just double-check filepaths. Poking around the makefile doesnt hurt either. In fact, if you run into spinlock problems(which I did when compiling drivers for CentOS 3), there are settings which will need to be changed(check 3ware website for symptoms and solutions, Ive always found the answer I need there).</tt></font> <br> <br><font size=2><tt>>But the question is work that with centos?</tt></font> <br> <br><font size=2><tt>Im in a farm with a few dozen servers running CentOS and compiled-from-source 3ware drivers on 9500 cards. That is correct to the extent you CAN'T download the drivers you need and just drop them in, like other OS's. What you CAN do is download the 2.4 source and compile your own.</tt></font> <br> <br><font size=2><tt>As for the website linked in that knowledgebase article, Ive never tried their driver.</tt></font> <br> <br><font size=2><tt>Don't forget to upgrade firmware!
