How to get 3Ware 9500S controller card working in CentOS 3.1?
...ch luck. I've compiled the drivers on a stock centOS 3.1 install and created a modules.cgz file (using find . -depth | cpio -o -H newc | gzip -c > ../modules.cgz) with the newly-compiled driver modules. Here are the contents of the modules.cgz file I created: 2.4.21-9.0.1.EL.c0BOOT/i386/3w-9xxx.o 2.4.21-9.0.1.EL.c0hugemem/i386/3w-9xxx.o 2.4.21-9.0.1.EL.c0/i386/3w-9xxx.o 2.4.21-9.0.1.EL.c0smp/i386/3w-9xxx.o I've also tried the above without the 'i386' subdirectory. The stock install kernel version is 2.4.21-9.0.1.EL.c0. That IS what I should use for the modules directory nam...

The problem is that it's easy enough to set up both individually but how do I get the "second choice" drop the leading "0" and add "612" to the Freshtel trunk... In other words... USER - DIALS 0-9xxx xxxx ASTERISK 1st choice dials PSTN drops 0 dials 9xxx xxxx Freshtel 2nd choice drops 0 adds 612 9xxx xxxx I guess once I can do it for local calls, STD and IDD numbers would follow the same rules.... Please excuse me in advance if this is a lame question net I'm new to Asterisk and I am s...

"starting" dovecot
My system never issues the "dovecot start" command. I do, however, run /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/imap on port 9xxx. I talk to the server through port 9xxx and through the preauth tunnel. Is this arrangement OK? Are there some things that will only work if "dovecot" is invoked? Thanks, -- Dave Abrahams BoostPro Computing Software Development Training http://www.boostpro.co...

weird XFS problem
Hello all, I have a CentOS 5.7 machine hosting a 16 TB XFS partition used to house backups. The backups are run via rsync/rsnapshot and are large in terms of the number of files: over 10 million each. Now the machine is not particularly powerful: it is 64-bit machine, dual core CPU, 3 GB RAM. So perhaps this is a factor in why I am having the following problem: once in awhile that XFS partition

3w_9xxx + Xen-patched 2.6.30 dom0 == bad LUN detection
I''ve been attempting to update my dom0 kernel by using the 2.6.27 git tree from the xenclient repo and also to 2.6.30 using opensuse patches rebased by Andrew Lyon. In both cases there''s a problem with the 3ware 3w_9xxx driver incorrectly detecting the LUNs on the device or some other issue, which ultimately prevents partition table detection. In my testing I applied the latest and greatest 3w_9xxx driver from 3ware''s site to both 2.6.30 _and_ 2.6.18. The same driver works correctly under 2.6.18 but...

custom kernel for Centos 5 kickstart?
...g for Centos 5 kickstart? Or similar Linux distribution? I am rebuilding a custom kernel from stock kernel source to build some hardware modules into static form, so that the hardware detection sequence can be altered in a hard way. Quick examples are: tg3 drivers will be loaded before e1000, 3w-9xxx be loaded before 3w-9xxx, etc. Please advice. If the object could be achieved through adjustment to /etc/modules.conf or similar files, then it could be even more fantastic. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... smartd and 3ware 9xxx configs
I'm looking to do a bit more monitoring of my 3ware 9550 with smartd, and wanted to see what others were doing with smart for monitoring 3ware hardware. Do you have the smartd.conf configured to test, or simply monitor health status? Are you monitoring the drive as centos sees it (/dev/sdX) or are you using the 3ware /dev/twaX for monitoring? Opinions and discussions are welcome :-P --

Module loading order during install
Is there a way in a kickstart install to affect the order in which modules get loaded? I want to load 3w-xxxx before 3w-9xxx so that my OS mirror drives take their proper place as sda and sdb, but centos-4 wants to load 3x-9xxx first, making my (unbootable) big arrays the first two drives. In this configuration, it seems that even trying to install grub to /dev/sdc fails. Ideas? Thanks. -- Joshua Baker-LePain De...
