[asterisk-users] problem starting asterisk, unable to load chan_zap
Hi all, I am running asterisk 1.2.18, zaptel 1.2.18, libpri 1.2.4. on a suse 10.2, running kernel 2.6.18.2-34-default. The zaptel drivers are loaded on boot via /etc/init.d/zaptel, but Asterisk is unable to start. It ends with the following message: [chan_zap.so] => (Zapata Telephony w/PRI) Jun 13 13:05:41 VERBOSE[3356] logger.c: == Parsing '/etc/asterisk/zapata.conf': Found Jun 13 13:05:41 WARNING[3356] chan_zap.c: Unable to specify channel 1: No such device or address Jun 13 13:05:41 ERROR[3356] chan_zap.c: Unable to open channel 1: No such device or address here = 0, tmp->channel = 1, channel = 1 Jun 13 13:05:41 ERROR[3356] chan_zap.c: Unable to register channel '1-15' Jun 13 13:05:41 WARNING[3356] loader.c: chan_zap.so: load_module failed, returning -1 Jun 13 13:05:41 DEBUG[3356] channel.c: Unregistering channel type 'Zap' Jun 13 13:05:41 WARNING[3356] loader.c: Loading module chan_zap.so failed! I checked that the module wcte11xp is loaded before I start asterisk. I can fix the problem when I do: rmmod wcte11xp && modprobe wcte11xp after that rmmod && modprobe asterisk works. The same happens, on a similar machine, the only difference is that I need to load the wcte12xp driver, because of an other card. Anybody knows what my problem is? kind regards Sebastian

First the driver loads when booting, then I log in, and start linux-ha, which then starts asterisk. I think that is time enough for udev to create the devices, but it is not doing it in the first place. I added a rmmod wcte11xp && modprobe wcte11xp to /etc/init.d/zaptel into the start section, and when I then login I have no problem to start asterisk. Sebastian
