I'd like to increase the speed of the Asterisk sound files. Miss Alison talks a bit slow. I can use sox to increase the speed, but then the pitch changes and she starts to sound like a chipmunk. Any audio experts out there know how I can increase the speed a little bit, and change the pitch accordingly so that she sounds ... normal? Thanks Doug.

I gave that try, and she no longer sounds like a chipmunk, but there's a rather loud background distortion. Hmmm.
I have used audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/) to stretch/shrink sound files for non-Asterisk applications. It's overkill for what you want (it's actually a multi-track audio editor with various effects), but it will let you adjust tempo and pitch independently of each other. For minor adjustments on CD-quality sound files, you can tell that something is just a little off, but the effect isn't too bad. --Mike> > >On Mon, Apr 24, 2006 at 09:41:40AM -0600, Douglas Garstang spake thusly: > >>I'd like to increase the speed of the Asterisk sound files.
