transfer bug (#701 -> remote party hears alison, not me)
CVS HEAD from about 1 week ago. TDM30P and call through Nufone. I was
talking and wanted to park the call and move to another phone to pick it up.
I hit #701 instead of #700 though -- after a pause, I got a fast busy and the
call was gone.
When I called the person back, she said that Alison told HER that 701 was an
invalid extension. I should have heard that though, not her.
If I dial #700 *I* hear Alison, like I should... For this reason I don't
think it's a dialplan issue, but has anyone else seen this?

Andrew

finding most highly transcribed genes - ranking, sorting and subsets?
...ranks were
<500 for columns 1,2, and 5 and greater than 500 for 3,4,and 6). However, I
can't believe that there is only one gene that is in the top 500 for R
intensitiy among those three arrays.
Am I doing something wrong? Can someone think of a better way of doing
this?
Thanks
Alison

using a package function inside another function
...the 'insert_row_test' function (after
loading the micEcon package), it does not insert a row into the matrix
I pass in. When I call the insertRow function exactly as above in the
R console, it works with no problem.
Can anyone tell me why this is, and how to fix this problem?
Thank you!

Alison Keenan (free British English voice)
Hi Folks,
I have a few folks whom are interested in another recording session with
Alison Keenan but don't have enough work to justify her visit to the
studio.
If there's anyone whom would like her to do some work but hasn't got
around to it yet now might be the time. We need enough work to fill an
hour of her time. So far we have about 25 minutes.
Le me know off list.

adding a named column to a Matrix
...s named literally "kog_id" instead of "KOG1234".
How can I name a column by passing in a variable for the column name?
I am performing this action inside of a for loop, so I can't
necessarily know the position of the column in order to name it after
it is created.
Thanks,
Alison Callahan

Getting /etc/mongrel_cluster and startup script to work?
...ported an error. Use mongrel_rails start -h to get help.
I have experimented with putting the full path to the log file in
mongrel_cluster.yml, to no avail. mongrel_rails cluster::start works
just fine when run from the app directory. Surely I must be missing
something... any ideas?

Predicting with a principal component regression model: "non-conformable arguments" error

I get the following error:
"Error in newX %*% B : non-conformable arguments"
I don't understand why I get this error only when I put the non-training
data into a separate file from the training data and load it as a separate
object. Any help is appreciated,

British Voice talent records Asterisk prompts
Hi folks,
I have British comedienne, Alison Keenan (another Alison!) coming in on
Saturday afternoon to record the Asterisk prompts for me. Alison speaks
with a "posh boarding school" accent. Finally we'll have a free British
English female voice bank.
As I have her in my studio (yeah right; it's a cupboard under the

heat map - how to import a graphic?
If I want to create a heat map where I have a graphic of a US State with county borders, how do I import and work with the graphic image?
The reason I would like to use R is so I can then define color parameters and quickly produce heat maps that correspond to various data in dataframes.
Thanks.

Faster Sound Files
I'd like to increase the speed of the Asterisk sound files. Miss Alison talks a bit slow.
I can use sox to increase the speed, but then the pitch changes and she starts to sound like a chipmunk. Any audio experts out there know how I can increase the speed a little bit, and change the pitch accordingly so that she sounds ... normal?
Thanks
Doug.
