[Asterisk-Users] TE210P + MicroITX as E1 to TDMoE appliance?
Has anyone every attempted to set up a mini PC to achieve much the same functionality as the fonebridge box? The sort of thing I'm imagining is a micro itx board & case in a completely solid state configuration (flash disk, maybe a psu fan but only if really required), with a TE210P (or equiv) card(s). The sole purpose of this would be to be a bridge between E1 lines and TDMoE. The advantages of such a configuration are: . easy to add redundancy at the asterisk pbx level . easy to expand - just add more E1-TDMoE bridges . modular configuration (just how much of an advantage is this tho?) . servers don't need full height PCI I/O capacity, eg blades Disadvantages: . additional points of failure . cost (may be outweighed by possible savings on server hardware?) Something like the fonebridge product solves this problem too, but it isn't available in Australia (unless someone can tell me otherwise???) :( It would also be possible to build a TDMoE channel bank with digiums TDM2400P, although full height and length PCI cards and MicroITX boards, cases, and power supplies probably don't go hand in hand :) Maybe I'm just rambling... any comments? Thanks James
