[Asterisk-Users] How to use multiple VOIP provider trunks
I have been able to setup three different providers successfully, but only one at a time. I would like to have all active in a fail over configuration so that one failing would not be noticed by the users. I know it's probably easy to configure but I have not been able to find out how. Can anyone give me an example? Chris Mason

Yeah something like that ;-) Thanks, Tim Damon Estep wrote:><snip> > > > >>I am working on a phone routing system (with >>duplicate/redundant routes) and I will just have a way for a >>user to tell the system that they want to use an alternate >>route for the next call. >> >> > >How about the simple and traditional method, > >Dial 9 for an outside line, dial 8 for an alternate outside line? Failures might include: - call processed but provider has a problem (incomplete call) - register is working, call processing is not - provider is off-line (for whatever reason; seldom happens) - your local isp is down (or having a problem; all itsp's fail) Asterisk won't know the status of some of these.

You cant fail over by any means if there is no failure. Does asterisk should the channels bridged? If so the call is complete in SIP terms. To fix this problem you should find a less oversubscribed itsp...

Or dial nothing for an outside line, dial 9 for an alternative outside line.

Not sure if you are joking or not (the smiley face confused me), you do realize this is quite simple, right?> > Yeah something like that ;-) > > Thanks, > Tim > > Damon Estep wrote: > > ><snip> > > > > > > > >>I am working on a phone routing system (with duplicate/redundant > >>routes) and I will just have a way for a user to tell the > system that > >>they want to use an alternate route for the next call. > >> > >> > > > >How about the simple and traditional method, > > > >Dial 9 for an outside line, dial 8 for an alternate outside line? "Anyway, thanks for replying, and hope I didn't come off as an ass." You didn't. just was not sure if you knew how to pick different trunk groups in your dial plan.> -----Original Message----- > From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com > [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of > Tim Pushor > Sent: Sunday, March 27, 2005 1:07 PM > To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion > Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] How to use multiple VOIP provider trunks > > Damon, > > Yes, sorry.
