I've read that it is possible to setup * using a winmodem (linmodem). I was wondering if anyone on the list has setup * with a winmodem and if so how they did it. I have a pctel modem (pct789) I'd like to play with. Thanks for your help Jared
Jared, not all winmodem works as X100P. You should find a winmodem with the Intel Ambient MD3200 chip. It works great. I thought that the phone.conf file was for using Linux Telephony modems. I'm not looking at using the zaptel drivers but in my case the pctel driver and using the channel type "phone". There isn't much documentation on this channel though. ________________________________ From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com on behalf of Androtech Sent: Sat 3/26/2005 4:41 PM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Asterisk with Winmodem Jared, not all winmodem works as X100P. Why bother to spend all the time messing around with it when the best you could possibly get would be poor quality and half duplex when for $7 you can buy a PSTN card on eBay that works great.
