Is the X100P a WinModem?
So I've been on the Asterisk list for a long time. Mostly looking to set it up as a cheap alternative to a commercial MeetMe bridge, as a for-fun project. I keep noticing the Wildcard FXO X100P sorta seems like a Winmodem. Winmodems are basically a sound card chip tied to a pots port, where the Winders driver takes on the MO/DEM functions in software. I've always despised them as a data communications device but the other uses of the cards do seem good. It would seem like this kind of board would be exactly wha...

Questions on X100P/X101P cards
Hello, I'm looking for a dirt cheap solution for SOHO use to handle at most a couple of POTS lines, and I notice that X10?P cards go for $15 on eBay as opposed to $90 for an OpenVox card or over $200 for a Sangoma. I have a couple of questions about those cheap FXO cards: 1. Are they all glorified softmodems, ie. none has an on-board CPU or DSP and outsources all processing to the

More WineX Build Problems
I downloaded a newer copy of WineX from the CVS, using WinCVS (Pesky winmodem doesn't work with Linux). I copied it to my linux partition & did a ./configure . To my surprise, an error was returned! bash: ./configure: No such file or directory I'm confused. What am I doing wrong (Yes, I'm a pathetic newbie)? Anybody have any ideas?

H&R Block Tax cut with wine
...ooting my machine to Windows and actually starting to work on my taxes. Wine seemed to install Tax Cut with out any problems. However, when I tried to start Tax Cut 2004 , it complained that Mozilla did not have an active X Browser and offered to go on line and get one. Unfortunately I have a WinModem and dial up connection with WalMart that only supports Connection with windows. So that seems to be the end of my attempts to do my taxes with Linux for this year. Perhaps things will work better in 12 months when I try again next year. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment...

Choosing an FXO card
Folks, I'm looking at buying an FXO card for my home Asterisk setup. The question I have is, should I got for a the Digium Wildcard FXO or settle for the winmodem that Digium sell? I have spoken to the UK distributor and they only sell the Wildcard. They said that the quality of the modem was questionable. Does anyone have any experience of this? Is the modem noticeably different from the Wildcard in terms of quality? Does it do things the modem does...

Virtual Modems
...hing the archives, I came acrross a few people mentioning this, but I never saw anything about what became of it. Has anyone tried to make a virtual modem that could be directly handled by astrisk, I saw a while ago that someone was going to try and make one using the same DSP libaries that the WinModems use, but then nothing. Would do this even be possible, and if so, what kind of connection speeds could one hope to achive, with the compression and such? I don't need a 56k connect (though it would be nice), but be able todo 28.8 would be fine. :) Also, would using the new T.38 (I think i...

xen and pci
hello, I''m running XEN 2.0 on IBM ThinkPad T23. Now the weird thing is that I get two different outputs from /sbin/lspci depending on whether I run 2.6.8.1-xen0 or 2.6.8.1-bproc. In particular the output from 2.6.8.1-xen0 seems to be missing those 4 lines 0000:00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corp. 82830 830 Chipset AGP Bridge (rev 02) 0000:00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corp. 82801BAM/CAM PCI

Source for MD3200 modem cards?
It seems that the Apollo MD3200 winmodem sold my newegg no longer uses the MD3200 chipset. At least the $13 version I ordered arrived with a different chipset. I made them aware of the issue and hopefully they will be changing their description soon. Anyway, I'm looking for a new source now, anyone know where to get these cards cheap...
