Voice linmodems and Asterisk PBX
Hello group,
Just got this reply from Sasha @ Smart Link, a soft modem chipset
company with a very nice attitude towards Linux. BTW, You can check the
status of most modem chipsets and Linux support here:
http://www.idir.net/~gromitkc/dips/roster.html
The good news is that the current 2.7.x series supports voice commands
and is full duplex, but can only work with one modem. This issue will

fax software
It's been many years, but it seems that I have to receive a fax and
might have to send one too. Is there a way to do this on CentOS 5.5?
(Hope so.)

slmodem and CentOS 4 (for reference)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Keywords: slmodem, linmodem, amr, slamr, winmodem
Okey, just posting this for future reference, in case someone tries
to search the list on this subject.
To have slmodemd working on CentOS 4.1 (not sure about ver 4),
all that is needed is to edit the file drivers/amrmo_init.c,
replacing every instance of KERNEL_VERSION(2,6,...

Intel 537EP is NOT the MD3200 aka X100P [Re: Intel 537EP chipset, revisited]
...ial driver claimed the device, disallowing the zaptel wcfxo driver to
grab it. The following patches fix those problems, BUT, further
investigation reveals this card is not compatible. It's not clear how
different the 537EP is from teh MD3200 / X100P; might be worth checking
into.
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/Intel/537/ is Intel's site
containing linux modem drivers for the 537 line, and these appear to
include voice features. Not sure if duplex and if compatible with
Asterisk voicemodem driver. Again, might be worth checking into.
In the meantime, make sure you purcha...

I would like to set up the Linux

[Zaptel] Why no driver for PCI voice modems?
Hello
Considering how cheap PCI modems are compared to even the cheapest
PCI hardware from Digium, OpenVox, Sangoma, etc.... I was wondering
why Zaptel can't be used with those to connect an Asterisk server to
a POTS line for low-level use? It just seems overkill for SOHO users
who only get a few calls a day.
Is it because those modems are usually Windows-specific, and it would

Is the X100P a WinModem?
So I've been on the Asterisk list for a long time. Mostly looking to set
it up as a cheap alternative to a commercial MeetMe bridge, as a for-fun
project.
I keep noticing the Wildcard FXO X100P sorta seems like a Winmodem.
Winmodems are basically a sound card chip tied to a pots port, where the
Winders driver takes on the MO/DEM functions in software. I've always
despised them as a data
