I've seen lots of stuff go around about Grandstream firmware levels (in my case specifically the BT101/102). I'm just wondering what the currently accepted 'best' firmware version is to use? After seeing stuff going around about buggy firmware I want to know what I'm getting into before upping past my current 1.0.5.11. It's relatively stable, and the last thing I want to do is update to a flaky firmware.... Paul -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I've been using 1.0.5.16 for more than a week now, haven't had a single problem, and have not had to reboot it once. _____ From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Paul Fielding Sent: Tuesday, January 18, 2005 10:35 AM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Best Grandstream firmware to use? The Grandstream shows just 1.0.5.16 ... Thanks in advance Aldo

After 5.11, my phone simply will not do a DNS lookup, neither for NTP nor for SIP server. I need DNS lookup for SIP because the server is on a dynamic ip for the moment. Until I can use a fixed SIP server ip, I won't be able to move past 5.11 since GS seems to have given up on helping me.
I have found that having multiple entries in the DNS sometimes seems to cause a problem with 1.0.6.x versions. Try using one DNS entry, preferrably a nearby public one (e.g. your ISP's). Is there a way to ping from a Grandstream to the server ? Just a thought... I use 1.0.5.22 Can't fault it. Don't be afraid of upgrading to a newer version, you can always downgrade again. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul Fielding" <paul.fielding@shaw.ca> Sent: Tuesday, January 18, 2005 2:34 AM Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Best Grandstream firmware to use?> I've seen lots of stuff go around about Grandstream firmware levels (in my > case specifically the BT101/102). For me this version has issues with DHCP, and registrations. Although the look of it is something of an improvement. I wish they would get their existing feature set to work well before they make more changes. -Nate -----Original Message----- From: Rod Bacon [mailto:rod.bacon@empoweredcomms.com.au] Sent: Wednesday, March 16, 2005 2:48 PM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Best Grandstream firmware to use? Let the phone register 3. Make a call to it but do not answer it 4. Let the phone re-register as normal 5. Make a second call and again do not answer it 6. Wait for the phone to re-register as normal I find that 6. is never reached. Grandstream know about this but are saying that the problem is with Asterisk. b
