Hi .. I've just received in the post my Wildcard card with a single FXO and three FXS daughter cards. I've identified a dedicated PC to function as the * machine and installed the card. I've installed Fedora Core 2 on that machine. I've downloaded the * software and the zaptel drivers. And now, to be quite honest, I haven't got much of a clue what to do next! I've tried compiling the zaptel drivers but it seems to barf at something to do with having a link /usr/src/linux-2.6 I've even downloaded the kernel source and have created a softlink to them. I'd appreciate any pointers to an idiot's guide to getting started with * Thanks Nigel

You want to place a link to the 2.6 kernel in the /usr/src directory. There should be instructions in the zaptel directory. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Nigel Roberts Sent: Monday, September 27, 2004 10:17 AM To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Complete newbie seeks start . . . I USED WWW.ASTERISK.NET.AU to get started, I hate how poor te documentation is, even this page has an error where it talks about checking out zaptel. I have been lent a Leader IP10S phone (SIP) for evaluation. No luck with making or receiving calls - the phone registers OK though. Has anyone had any experience with these phones? Try the asterisk docs project: http://www.asteriskdocs.org There is a very nice walk through that explains basic dialplan setup and other beginner stuff. So, if you really get stuck, give Digium a call or send them an email and they will build and install the drivers for you. It's not a shame if you have Digium do this for you on your first installation. rgds benjk -- Sunrise Telephone Systems, 9F Shibuya Daikyo Bldg., 1-13-5 Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Having just taken a quick look at the website, I would suggest that you are much better off following the documentation provided with Asterisk itself (ie, in the README, and the sample config files). If you need more help, then there is no other single resource than www.voip-info.org which will have the answer. *STILL* need more help, then ask here or on IRC. I have no idea where/why you even looked at that website? Regards, Adam
