folders via softlink
I have recently switched from the UW imap server to dovecot and things
seem to be working nicely. One thing that I can't seem to figure out
however, is how to get dovecot to show folders that are a softlink.
We run SpamAssassin. Users can use both their own personal spam folder
as well as a shared spam folder. For messages that everyone would
consider spam, the user can simply drag the message to the shared spam
folder (messages that are only "spam to them" would go into their own

Softlinks
All,
I'm using Maildir. Is it possible to move all (or only some) maildirs with
softlinks to another partition?

Softlinking to a dvd-drive with inconsistent mount points?
In Suse 9.2, it was easy to softlink to a drive from
/home/username/.wine/dosdevices because the mount
point for the drive was always the same. That is,
/media/dvdrecorder was always where the disc would get
mounted.
NOW, with Suse 9.3, the mount point is
/media/DISC_NAME. Since each disk has a different
name, there is never a cons...

[PATCH] virtio-pci: add softlinks between virtio and pci
We sometimes need to map between the virtio device and
the given pci device. One such use is OS installer that
gets the boot pci device from BIOS and needs to
find the relevant block device. Since it can't,
installation fails.
Supply softlinks between these to make it possible.

Gleb, could you please ack that this patch below

wide softlink to different partition copy fails
...follow symlinks = yes
wide links = yes
The files in question are as follows:
on the server:
/media/stor0 is an XFS filesystem
/media/stor1 is an XFS filesystem
/media/stor0/user/edit_ready is a folder with 775 permissions
/media//stor1/user/edit_ready -> /media/stor0/user/edit_ready is a softlink
as described
If I mount the share "ol01_ingest" on a client to "/mnt/ingest" I am able
to browse to the "edit_ready" directory and interact with files inside it
But if I attempt to copy a file from any other part of the share to the
edit_ready directory or the other w...

mulit user system redirecting My Documents
New to wine here.
I installed wine, my application is working.
I allow all users to access "/usr/wine/.wine", I want to redirect
"/usr/wine/.wine/fake_windows/My Documents" to a $HOME/My Documents. Is
there a way I can do this? Is it as simple as adding a reg key?
Therefore when a user executes the windows app, and browses to "My
Documents" they see a folder in

Problem with softlinks under samba on RHEL
...>\Shared\unix-machine-links\<linux-machine-001>\disk1

Thus on the filesystem of <hostname>, I have:

Backup
Hello All,
I am setting up a samba backup UNIX box. It will periodically login onto
a windoze box(with smbclient), pickup the files, and save them.
The problem is that I couldn't make any error correction in case of
power blackout or anything similar. That is, while backing up, if I
shutdown the WIN machine, one I'm backing up, smbclient goes crazy, giving
broken pipe error.

R CMD check issue with soft-linked directory
...problem: see the messages for
details.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The above test was run with a newly created jtest/ directory on yet another drive
(partition) to see if there was possibly corruption. However, the issue seems to be one of
using a softlink.
I would not be upset if R CMD check simply told me that this isn't the right way to do
things i.e., don't use the softlinked directory.
Does anyone know if this is a recognized issue and is it possible to put some sort of
reasonable error message into R CMD check?

PS.In one of the earlier thread it is suggested to remove duplicate packages
, it will be great if any one help with a command to do the same. I tried
the softlink option explained in the last mail but didnt worked for me and I
removed the
softlink.
Thanks in advance,

Thats an ugly workaround that should be forbidden. See Below.

Random disconnects from Samba server
...orking actively in the directory in question. Sometimes it is just connected, but he is off doing something else. Again, logs are unhelpful -- even with log level = 5.
One of the main reasons we're doing this is that the home drives in question are often accessed from Linux, and so there are softlinks to other file systems. So, users have a bunch of softlinks pointing to directories on different file systems and access them by first going to their home directory, then clicking on the softlink so that they end up where they want to go, regardless of whether they are on a Mac or a Windows machin...

MOH problems
I am trying to music on hold but I am having all sorts of problems with it.
I am running RH9 and the latest version of Asterisk as of yesterday.
Here is what I did to test it:
1. I manually deleted the mpg123 softlink to mpg321.
2. I downloaded mpg123-0.59r-1.n0i.src.rpm, compiled and installed the
the archive and loaded ztdummy.o module.
3. I threw a couple extra files in the mohmp3 directory along with the
sample-hold.mp3
file.
4. I created a test number that did an: Answer and then a MusicOnHold
5. I...

And now, to be quite honest, I haven't got much of a clue what to do next!
I've tried compiling the zaptel drivers but it seems to barf at
something to do with having a link /usr/src/linux-2.6
I've even downloaded the kernel source and have created a softlink to them.
I'd appreciate any pointers to an idiot's guide to getting started with *

R 2.1.1 installation fails under Suse 10.0 (PR#8533)
...configure" to an abortion with problems about "FPICFLAGS".
Deinstalling g77 compatiblity mode, using f2c, compiles R. But after calling R()
the program shows its entrance message and then hangs up, using 100% of the
processor capacity.
What finally works on my computer was setting a softlink from /usr/bin/g77 to
gfortran such that the fortran 95 compiler was used directly during the R
compilation.

Upgrade to 2.3.1 has failed
Andy,
This is just rude. You have been told multiple times that the less-than
symbol is required to read the certificate from the file. Otherwise,
the filename is parsed as if it is the certificate itself. Which yields
garbage.
If dovecot can't read that file, it is *not* dovecot's fault. You are
simply not going to succeed until *you* figure out what security
differences you have in
