[Asterisk-Users] Digium Cards in Boxes without Power Connectors
I noticed on the wiki that some of the production hardware (compaq) doesnt have a power connector to my knowledge. I have a compaq c6400 that I would like to use for Asterisk. However all the drives are hot swap and the dual redundant power supply bay are not something i really feel like soldering wiring to. How are people getting around this? Is there a magic 'fan card' that has a power out that people are using? Thanks

Just drawing PCI power it apparently worked fine. YMMV. -- Alex Malinovich Golden Technologies, Inc. You need to see how power is connected to the backplane. On some of our Dells, we have normal drive connectors on the backplane that the power is jumpered off of the motherboard to. You then could get a Y adapter a jump in the middle there. -- Steven Critchfield <critch@basesys.com>

I don't know anything about this card, but if its power connector is meant only to drive a fan, I'd be cautious using it on a Digium card. I'd put it on a scope and make sure it provides clean power first. asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com wrote:> Gabriel Millerd wrote: >>>> Is there a magic 'fan card' that has a power out that people are >>>> using? >>> >>> This may work for you. >>> >>> http://www.thermaltake.com/products/subzero/subzero4g.htm >>> >> you lost me, its a processor cooling device. it doesnt provide >> any power that could be used for a digium card. > > This card is AC powered, and has a drive power output plug, normally > used for a case fan. Sorry to jump in on a old thread, but just catching up after holiday... I didn't know this before - is it correct? Is so, to which cards does this apply?
