[Asterisk-Users] Useful patch in the bugtracker: streaming MOH
So, Tilghman has put a particularly useful patch in the bugtracker: streaming music-on-hold is now supported. You can now specify .mp3 streams to be played back as MOH in the various places where MOH is used. Hopefully, Mark will install into the main CVS tree shortly. http://bugs.digium.com/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0000413 This allows you to use the very sophisticated mp3 streaming audio tools that exist for broadcast (Open Source as well as commercial) to build your own mini-stations, complete with advertisements, annoying product placements, and insipid corporate banter while you have people trapped in a hold queue, helpless and unable to do anything but listen to the drivel that you wish to push into their ears. This was requested by those who wanted to stream a local radio station. -- Steven Critchfield <critch@basesys.com>

[Asterisk-Users] Useful patch in the bugtracker: streaming MOH
Streaming MOH is a great improvement; has anyone considered a streaming media channel? I'm specifically thinking of the auctions (Dovebid) and the investor conference calls that are simultaneously streamed via RealAudio or Shoutcast. There are plenty of MP3 streaming servers to use, and Real's Helix DNA project <URL:http://www.helixcommunity.org/> could theoretically be integrated. I suppose either would be possible if a separate streaming server took the audio output of chan_oss, but I thought I'd wonder aloud about a hypothetical chan_mp3stream or chan_helix. I've seen a couple real.com addresses lately on the list; any asterisk integration happening, guys? rm ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Roderick Montgomery rod@thecomplex.com <URL:http://thecomplex.com/> the fool stands only to fall, but the wise trip on grace...
