Is there any way to run asterisk without a fxo card? I am looking only run SIP and a single fxs card.
There is nothing stopping you from using Asterisk as a pure VoIP box. How did you get the idea an FXO is required? You can easily set up a pure VoIP box (is the easiest configuration of *) and use for "internal" comm environment (obviously, until you don't put * in condition to "talk" with the normal phone lines, you'll not be able to call a non-VoIP client) Fxo and Fxs are not strict requirements to have * work. * can use FXO, FXS, PRI, and BRI lines, but is not mandatory to have them. Just take a couple of SIP phones (also soft-phones), set up the sip.conf properly, and you'll have a perfectly running * box for VoIP use. If you take the fxs card, you wil be able to make a normal phone ring if called from the VoIP phones, and call from the normal phone to the VoIP phones. -- Stefano Finetti
Turned out to be a incompatibility with my server hardware. This version of the TDM400P was never going to work. So this server will work great as an VoIP only server. ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: "Stefano Finetti" <ssfinetti@lynxautomotive.it> Reply-To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Date: Thu, 24 Jul 2003 10:10:27 +0200 From: "Matthew Pallotta" <matthewp@comptek.net>> Is there any way to run asterisk without a fxo card?
