Hello, I''m just new to Ruby on Rails, and so far I like what I''m seeing. I had a bit of trouble at first because I didn''t have the "irb" package installed on my fedora box, and webrick completely refused to work for me (kept saying "not found" when I was expecting it to say "undefined action" or whatever it is). Anyway, I finally got that working after reading more. Perhaps this "irb" package should be mentioned somewhere in the installation instructions, eh? ;) Anyways, I''ve worked through this tutorial: http://manuals.rubyonrails.com/read/book/7 And it''s taught me quite a bit about how rails works. My question is, are there any other tutorials? I''d like one that''s a little more in-depth, something that takes it to the next level, to get me more familiar with ruby and rails. My current website is implemented in blosxom, but I had to write a plugin for it that''s larger than blosxom is! So I''m looking to scrap the whole bit and start over with ruby on rails, but I''m not familiar enough with ruby to be confident to reimpliment my website from scratch, so I''m looking for more tutorials. Thanks. -- One Guy With A Camera http://rbpark.ath.cx

There''s some good starter stuff on the net - like "Rolling with Ruby on Rails",Curt Hibbs 20-Jan-2005 http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2005/01/20/rails.html - but you''re a bit on your own after that. My "Rails in four days" takes you from that to creating your first "real" Rails application, building up a toolbox of Rails goodies, and most importantly, finding your way round the reference material available on the web. It''s about 90% there - I need to run through through all the examples again on a clean PC to make sure I haven''t missed anything. However, I''d be delighted if you could proof-read it and tell me if it looks ok for its target audience. John

And does can anybody help me with the file-upload thing in my other email? Thanks. -- One Guy With A Camera http://rbpark.ath.cx

Thanks to all who took the trouble to download and read the document, and for the feedback. I''ve moved the latest version to http://rails.homelinux.org and I''ll post another message once it''s in a finished form. John
