Those silly Java folk :) http://www.theserverside.com/news/thread.tss?thread_id=32723 Basically they re-implemented tada list in Java to show it can still hang.
I don''t understand why both sides are so riled up here. I like ruby much more than java, but I do think this is a cool app and he did make some improvements on tada. And it''s open source. Let''s give some credit where it''s due. It''s really a win-win situation. Rails has inspired people who prefer other languages to write better tools. The competition for developer mindshare will cause both sides to get better. I think it''s all based on that "10x faster" snippet. Started a fire! That said, anything that spurs improvement all-around can''t be such a bad thing. And lots of people currently enjoying ruby can probably thank the java folk otherwise we''d all be having to write VB or C# exclusively cause there''d be no "big name" alternatives to Microsoft. Anyway, competition is a good thing. Though it''s even better when it''s kept civil... * Carl Youngblood [2005-03-18 18:30]:> I don''t understand why both sides are so riled up here. The UI is Lazlo stuff which is flash on the front-end. Also says something about requiring MS truetype fonts on linux (verdana, etc.) [Windows (obviously) and existing OS X installs have the MS fonts from IE] -- ______________________________ toddgrimason*todd-AT-slack.net

Started a fire! This 10x factor is actually the case for some people, it is their experience... why should these people be quiet? why should recounting these experiences make so many people mad? Maybe they get mad because they have heard that promise one to many times before. Take a glance at my latest blog entry for a more in depth and level-headed discussion than ones found elsewhere. http://tech.rufy.com/entry/19 -Lucas http://www.rufy.com/

And it has been higher than 10x (for small projects)... but i wanted to be conservative :-) Curt
